Organizations Co-Hosting Colored Pencils

Colored Pencils expresses in an all-family participant event an aesthetic and ethos of a New Portland. New

Portland is a bigger us. We are a place integrating old and young of all abilities, orientations, ethnicity,

and nationalities into the life of our city. We do it through food, fine and performing arts.

We ask our co-hosts along. Co-hosts are necessary because each invites their constituencies to celebrate

and become our emerging New Portland.

Our Colored Pencils crew contributes to each event:

• Experienced volunteer event organizers
• Fine and performing artists from past Colored Pencils events, and a venue for each co-host’s community’s artists to exhibit and perform.
• Opportunity for co-host’s community to meet families from outside their neighborhoods.
• A safe place to experience other Portlanders’ core cultural values though art, music, dance, and cuisine.
• Media coverage and local publicity

Colored Pencils Co-hosts are asked to contribute:

• An appropriate Colored Pencils event venue
• Set-up and take-down volunteers
• An appropriate Colored Pencils event venue with 80-100 seats and 8-10 tables for exhibitions.
• Co-host’s community’s fine and performing artists
• Publicity for co-host community, assistance with mainstream media
• Welcoming crew (we provide cross-cultural training for those asking assistance)
• Ideas on making your event unique.
